Precisely fitting backing plates for large brake systems on the front axle. Developed for 330/356mm brake discs and suitable for various Big Brake Kits with comparable disc diameters. (e.g. Vmaxx or KSport)

Made of aluminum and deliberately designed with both function and everyday usability in mind. Unlike many conversions where backing plates are removed or improvised, this solution offers a technically clean and well-thought-out implementation.

We offer the version without a connection for brake cooling or with a hose connection. This makes it an ideal addition to the 86pARTs brake cooling kit (adapter required).

• Front axle (FA) version
• Approx. 370mm diameter
• Material: Aluminum (1.5 mm)
• Optional: 51mm cooling connection for brake cooling
• Continuously reinforced outer edge for additional stability
• Optimized for Big Brake Kits from various manufacturers (with comparable disc diameters)
• Handcrafted, therefore slight adjustments may be necessary during installation

Function and Advantages

• Supports brake cooling through targeted airflow in the brake disc area
• Reduces turbulence behind the disc bell and improves air circulation
• Protects surrounding components from heat radiation (e.g., dampers, ABS sensors, bearings, rubber components)
• Prevents uncontrolled heat exposure in the wheel arch during sporty driving
• Supports more consistent braking behavior in wet conditions

Why backing plates are useful

When upgrading to larger brake systems, backing plates are often removed or heavily modified. However, this often leads to disadvantages:

• Lack of airflow can worsen cooling instead of improving it
• Higher thermal load for surrounding components
• Unfavorable braking behavior in wet conditions
• Technically not as clean as the OEM solution

These backing plates adopt the principle of the OEM solution and apply it to large brake systems.

Installation Notes

• Depending on the vehicle and brake system, slight rework or bending may be required
• Installation replaces the original backing plates
• Compatibility depends on the ball joints and brake systems used
• Installation should be carried out professionally

Note on Legality

Generally not relevant for registration, but depends on the vehicle and inspector. Backing plates are a standard component of the brake system and are generally considered a functional part and must therefore be taken into account during individual inspection. Therefore, we sell them as a motorsport item for use outside of road traffic regulations!
